2025 Honda Pilot: inspecting a door under reflection lighting
This photo comes from a 2025 Honda Pilot inspected by SAN-X. The striped reflection board makes changes in the door surface easier to examine than ordinary overhead lighting.

What the lines tell us
A striped board gives the technician a consistent pattern to read on the panel. Changes in the reflected lines help locate and examine the shape of a dent. In this photograph, the pattern changes over the left front door rather than remaining uniform across the surface.
The lighting does not determine the repair method on its own. We also inspect the paint, the panel edges and any body lines near the damage. We then check how the area can be accessed and whether trim or other components affect the work.
Why an inspection comes before a PDR recommendation
Paintless dent repair may be suitable when the existing paint and the condition of the metal allow it. A sharp dent, stretched metal, damaged paint or restricted access can change the recommendation. Different panels on the same vehicle can require different methods.
That is why a photograph can help start the conversation but cannot confirm a price, a completion date or a promise to repair every dent without painting. We explain the proposed work after evaluating the vehicle.
What to bring to a hail or dent inspection
Bring the vehicle and let us know which areas concern you. If you already have an insurance claim, bring the claim number and any estimate you received. We can document the damage and help with estimate information; coverage and approvals depend on the insurer and policy.
